Few years ago, Giovanni moved from south Italy to south Canada. In the beginnings, he worked as gardener but he never forgot his roots as pastry and gelato artisan. During his free time, he started producing Italian ice cream for his family and in a short time, he expanded his clientele by involving the customers of his wife Lisa, who runs a hairdressing shop. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and orders for Giovanni’s gelato increased from 5 to 190 kilograms within a couple of weeks.

Recognizing the potential in this unexpected turn of events, Lisa and Giovanni saw an opportunity—an opportunity to fulfill their version of the « American Dream. » Thus, Sottozero Catering was born in December 2018, a venture that would bring the taste of Italy to the hearts and palates of Canadians and beyond.

The name « Sottozero » carries a dual significance: a tribute to the chilly Canadian climate and a nostalgic reference to the duo’s Italian origins.

One of the keys of their success has been their collaboration with Teknèitalia, where the knowledge of the craftsmanship marries the technology of the design. Their signature gelato carts became an icon for their brand; a symbol of their authenticity. Over the course of five years, they have come to regard this decision as one of their most prudent and fulfilling, because it helped them building brand awareness.

Several vehicles have been designed and crafted for Giovanni and Lisa by TeknèItalia.

Sottozero Catering iconic gelato carts have served a multitude of events, from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations with 1,000 attendees. The carts have become a symbol of their authenticity and dedication to providing top-notch service.

That’s the reason why we have designed and crafted a very special gelato cart, pulling together our dedication to delivering excellence with the timeless design of the most iconic italian vehicle: The Vespa.

This custom made gelato cart is equipped with 6 flavors pozzetti glycol system that guarantees more than 8 hours of autonomy without electricity.

This Vespa cart has been designed from the project of the first original Vespa released in 1946, most of the part have been modified in order to perfectly match with the design of TeknèItalia technical parts.
